On behalf of the Minister of Decentralization and Local Development, the Secretary General of the MINDDEVEL, Mr Fred Ebongue Makolle held a working session today with the Head of Strategy, Evaluation and Learning Strategy, Portfolio, Partnership and Digital Division of the Commonwealth Secretariat, Ms Evelyn Acio Pedersen. The meeting was attended by the Presidents of the South West and North Regional Assemblies, Public Independent Conciliators and mayors drawn from both Regions. The aim was to evaluate the involvement of the Commonwealth in Cameroon 🇨🇲 and showcase success stories in order for best practices to cascade down to member countries.
Questions from participants centered on the lack of visibility of Commonwealth activities in Cameroon. In this regard, the envoy of the Gentlemen’s Club explained that her organization has a « fix and go approach » which requires neither publicity nor exposure. According to her, the Commonwealth is focused on legislation, rule of law, networking and capacity building.
